ÓLEO FIXO DA FRUTA PEQUI (Caryocar coriaceum) PREVINE ALTERAÇÕES PULMONAIS CAUSADAS POR POLUENTES DE VEÍCULOS

A exposição a partículas de exaustão de diesel (DEP) em ambientes de alto tráfego está associada a alterações significativas no sistema respiratório. Paralelamente, supõe-se que a inclusão regular na dieta de compostos com altos teores de ácidos graxos poliinsaturados, como o óleo de pequi (Caryocar coriaceum), possa auxiliar nos distúrbios causados por esses poluentes. O presente trabalho investiga os benefícios da ingestão oral de óleo fixo de Caryocar coriaceum (CC) no tecido pulmonar e na mecânica ventilatória de camundongos expostos ao DEP, bem como sua composição química. O CC, composto principalmente de ácido linoleico (49,13%), evitou o aumento do índice de broncoconstrição e a infiltração de células inflamatórias nos alvéolos pulmonares. Além disso, foi capaz de evitar alterações nos parâmetros ventilatórios causadas pela DEP, como resistência das vias aéreas, resistência do tecido, elastância, complacência pulmonar, capacidade inspiratória e a área da curva de pressão-volume. Nossos achados demonstraram que a implementação do CC na dieta de camundongos expostos ao DEP foi responsável por impedir o estabelecimento de alterações histológicas e funcionais no sistema respiratório causadas por esses poluentes veiculares.
