The first decades of 21st century have shown that information has become one of the most important and valuable assets for any area of human knowledge. Among so many possibilities, information and its organization, preservation and intended use can define the level of competitiveness and innovation in companies and corporations. In the Digital Era, closely related to new skills and competences when it comes to searching, accessing, using and appropriating data, will demand from the Information Management a work environment which promotes knowledge sharing, considering its utility, context, accuracy and applicability. This research uses the qualitative-descriptive method to analyze the role of the information manager as a fundamental element in the corporation environment. Its multidisciplinary work involves sharing data with different groups, in addition to holistic analysis and creative participation to aggregate value to information and assist in the decision-making process. In addition, this study also shows that the sharing of information and experience is an essential condition for companies to be able to integrate the information management into the corporate routine through the collective, managing their intellectual capital and enabling the emergence of Knowledge Management.
